A brief narration of our past projects and achievements.

01

We had our community linked programme in May 2014 in Ibusa. The activities included a live interview at the Asaba Radio Station, followed by a courtesy visit to the Obuzo of Ibusa, who was very pleased with the objectives of the Association and thanked us for the initiative.

02

The group was split into three to visit and engage with students in the three major secondary schools in Ibusa: Ibusa girls, St Thomas College and Federal Girls College Ibusa. We gave the students in all the schools a talk on ‘the girl child’ emphasising on the need to stay focused on set career goals, be working hard and not be distracted by the various bad influencers in the society. The visit was then rounded up on the third day with a medical fair which entailed gathering older women and men at the St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, have their blood pressure checked as well as conduct eye tests on them. We also gave a talk to women on how to take care of their health particularly, their eyes.

03

The Association also donated the money needed to connect the general hospital to the electricity pole. Presently the Association is embarking on publication of the book, titled ‘Proudly Ibusa – Inspiring Generations’. This book would feature Ibusa indigenes that have made their marks in different professions and business endeavour. Also the intention of the Association is to use proceeds from the donations of participants featured in the book to build a vocational centre to provide skill acquisitions for the Ibusa people. Acquisition of the land for this purpose is ongoing.

04

The Association is also currently engaging with the Ibusa General Hospital Management for a facelift and upgrade of some of the facilities to improve the healthcare quality for the people. An inspection of the hospital has already been carried out and a letter, officially requesting from the Ibusa Health Management Board for permission to be allowed to contribute to the improvement of the Ibusa General Hospital facilities is work in progress.
